Wegovy coupon: every way to pay less in 2026

Wegovy semaglutide by Novo Nordisk

By the GLP Index editorial team Updated How we source

There is no Wegovy coupon code. The real discounts are Novo's savings offer, NovoCare self-pay, and coverage appeals — here's what each actually costs.

Is there a Wegovy coupon?

No code, no. Novo Nordisk doesn’t issue one, and the sites promising “Wegovy coupon codes” are affiliate pages wrapped around a free program — or fronts for something that isn’t Wegovy.

What does exist is four legitimate routes, and in practice you qualify for roughly one of them: a manufacturer savings offer if you have commercial insurance, a discounted self-pay price if you don’t, patient assistance if your income qualifies, and the paperwork route of getting a denial overturned. Your plan documents decide which.

Prices checked July 24, 2026. 5 of these 5 figures are unverified drafts (⚠) pending a source check. Manufacturer pricing and savings-card terms change without notice, so confirm the current number on Novo's Wegovy pricing page before you budget around it.

Note the shape of that table, because it’s the whole story: the spread between best and worst route is over $1,000 a month on the same medication, and the route you get isn’t something you shop for — it’s assigned to you by your insurance status.

The Wegovy savings offer: what it costs and who qualifies

This is the program people mean when they search for a coupon. Free to enroll, direct from Novo, and structured as a copay card: it lowers what you owe on a claim your plan is processing. It does not manufacture coverage.

Wegovy Savings Offer

If your plan covers it

as low as $0–$25/mo ⚠ verify

⚠ verify current copay, supply length, and annual maximum

If your plan doesn't cover it

~$650/mo ⚠ verify

⚠ verify — the not-covered tier price has changed more than once

You can use it if

  • You have commercial insurance — employer plan or ACA marketplace
  • You have a valid Wegovy prescription
  • You are a US resident (⚠ verify age and residency terms)

You're disqualified if

  • You are on Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA, or any other government plan
  • You have no insurance at all
  • Your state or plan bars manufacturer copay assistance (⚠ verify which)

How long it lasts: Offers carry an expiration date, a per-fill cap, and an annual maximum, and reset with the calendar year (⚠ verify all three — the annual cap is what people hit mid-year without warning).

See Novo's current Wegovy offer

Enrollment is free and direct from the manufacturer. There is no legitimate paid version of this card, and no site that sells you a code for it is the real thing.

The rule people fail most often is the government-insurance one. Medicare — including Medicare Advantage — Medicaid, TRICARE, and VA coverage disqualify you outright. Federal anti-kickback law prohibits manufacturers from subsidizing copays on government-funded prescriptions, so there’s no appeal and no workaround.

The second is the two-tier structure. The headline “$0” is for people whose plan already covers Wegovy. Commercial insurance that excludes weight-loss medication — a very common employer choice — puts you on the not-covered tier instead, around $650 a month (⚠ verify). Better than list, worse than self-pay, which is the section below.

The third is copay accumulator programs: some plans stopped counting manufacturer card dollars toward your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum, so the card lowers your monthly bill without advancing you toward the point where the plan takes over (⚠ verify prevalence on GLP-1s). Ask your benefits team directly.

Self-pay pricing through NovoCare Pharmacy

If no insurance is going to pay, stop wrestling with the card and price the self-pay channel. This is the biggest real discount on brand Wegovy and it gets a fraction of the coverage the savings offer does.

NovoCare Pharmacy is Novo’s direct-to-patient channel: roughly $499 a month, shipped to your door, no insurance billed (⚠ verify current price, terms, and whether the oral form is priced separately). You still need a valid prescription — this is a payment channel, not a prescribing one.

What that means in practice:

  • No prior authorization, no formulary, no denial letter. For people whose plans exclude weight-loss drugs, that’s the entire appeal.
  • It’s roughly a third of list. Over a year that’s the difference between about $16,000 and about $6,000 (⚠ verify both).
  • It generally won’t count toward your deductible, since no claim is filed.
  • Below this price, be suspicious. For brand Wegovy this is roughly the legitimate floor.

Patient assistance programs

Patient assistance is for people whose income makes even self-pay unreachable. It isn’t a discount — it’s the manufacturer supplying medication at no or nominal cost to a limited number of applicants who document that they qualify.

Novo Nordisk runs a patient assistance program administered through NovoCare. Two honest caveats:

  • Income thresholds are specific and move annually, usually expressed as a multiple of the federal poverty level adjusted for household size (⚠ verify the current threshold — don’t trust a number from another site; the FPL changes every year).
  • Weight-management products aren’t always on an assistance formulary on the same terms as diabetes products (⚠ verify Wegovy’s current status).

Expect the application to want proof of income, proof of insurance status, and a prescriber section your clinic completes — and expect weeks, plus annual reapplication. If your clinic has a financial counselor, hand it to them; they file these constantly and know which programs are currently open.

Do GoodRx and SingleCare work on Wegovy?

Only a little. The reason is structural, and knowing it saves you an afternoon of calling pharmacies.

Discount cards earn their savings by negotiating against a pharmacy’s cash price. On generics the spread is wide and the savings are real. Brand-name Wegovy has no generic — the pharmacy’s acquisition cost is high and fixed, so there’s little to negotiate. Expect a modest trim off the ~$1,349 list (⚠ verify current GoodRx and SingleCare ranges on brand Wegovy).

Two rules follow:

  • Discount cards and the manufacturer offer don’t stack. One per fill, and the manufacturer offer wins comfortably if you qualify.
  • Nothing legitimate undercuts NovoCare self-pay by hundreds. When a site claims it does, the question isn’t how — it’s what you’re actually being sold.

Getting insurance to pay: prior authorization, step therapy, appeals

The largest discount available on Wegovy isn’t a coupon — it’s coverage. Moving from the $650 not-covered tier to a covered copay is worth more than every discount card in existence combined, and it’s won on paperwork.

Prior authorization is the standard first hurdle: your prescriber documents BMI, weight-related conditions, and often a history of lifestyle intervention. Tedious, routine, and something GLP-1 clinics file constantly.

Step therapy is the second — some plans require you to try a cheaper medication first. Ask whether your plan has a step requirement before the first submission, because anticipating it beats appealing later.

Appeals work more often than people expect. The denial letter must state a reason; the counter is a letter of medical necessity from your prescriber addressing that exact reason — documented BMI, comorbidities, prior treatments. If the internal appeal fails you’re entitled to an external review by an independent third party (⚠ verify state-level specifics).

Two doors worth checking before you accept a no. Wegovy carries a cardiovascular risk-reduction indication alongside weight management, and some plans will cover it on that basis where they exclude weight-loss drugs (⚠ verify — this is your prescriber’s clinical determination, not an election you make). And coverage changes at plan renewal: employers add and drop weight-loss benefits year to year, so a January denial is sometimes a yes after open enrollment. Raising it with HR is a fair move — benefits teams do track those requests.

Compounded semaglutide and telehealth cash prices

Telehealth offers well under $300 a month are everywhere. Here’s the plain status.

During the semaglutide shortage, compounding pharmacies could legally produce copies. The FDA has since declared that shortage resolved, which removed the legal basis for mass compounding of semaglutide (⚠ verify current enforcement status and ongoing litigation). What remains sits in a murkier space than the marketing suggests.

Stated plainly, not as a recommendation:

  • Compounded semaglutide is not a generic and not an FDA-approved product. The FDA doesn’t review it for safety, efficacy, or quality the way it reviews Wegovy.
  • Concentration and dosing instructions vary between compounders, which is why dosing errors cluster in this channel.
  • The price gap is real. So is the difference in what you’re buying.

We cover the landscape informationally on the compounded semaglutide page. Understand it before anyone sells it to you as “generic Wegovy.”

  2. If you have commercial insurance and your plan excludes weight-loss drugs

Compare the not-covered tier against NovoCare self-pay — self-pay usually wins — and ask your prescriber about the cardiovascular indication in parallel.

  3. If you have no insurance at all

NovoCare Pharmacy self-pay. The savings offer excludes you by design and discount cards will not get close.

  4. If you are on Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, or VA coverage

The savings offer is barred by federal law. Check your plan's own formulary first, then price self-pay as the fallback.

FAQ

Common questions about Wegovy coupon & savings

Is there a Wegovy coupon code?

No. Novo Nordisk doesn't issue promo codes, and sites advertising a "Wegovy coupon code" aren't affiliated with the manufacturer. What exists is a free savings offer, a direct self-pay price through NovoCare Pharmacy, and income-tested patient assistance.

Can I use the Wegovy savings offer without insurance?

No. It's a copay card — it lowers what you owe on a claim your plan is already processing, so no insurance means nothing to lower. Uninsured patients use the NovoCare self-pay price instead.

How self-pay pricing works
Why doesn't the savings offer work with Medicare?

Federal anti-kickback law bars manufacturers from subsidizing copays for anyone on a government plan — Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA. It isn't a Novo policy you can appeal, and it applies to Medicare Advantage too.

My plan excludes weight-loss drugs. Is there any way in?

Sometimes. Wegovy carries a cardiovascular risk-reduction indication in addition to weight management, and some plans cover it on that basis where they exclude weight-loss drugs outright (⚠ verify). Whether it applies to you is your prescriber's clinical call, not a box you tick.

Does GoodRx work on Wegovy?

Barely. Discount cards negotiate against a pharmacy's cash price, and a brand-name drug with no generic leaves almost nothing to negotiate. Expect a modest trim off list (⚠ verify current range) — not close to the self-pay price.

What discount cards actually do
What's the cheapest legitimate way to get Wegovy?

With commercial insurance that covers it, the savings offer. Without coverage, NovoCare Pharmacy self-pay. Anything dramatically below that isn't brand Wegovy — it's a compounded copy or a counterfeit.
